Newbie Diver? Regaldive’s Nigel Cass gives six very good reasons why new divers (or old ones!) should join the club… your local dive club that is!
So you have just returned from your first diving holiday in the Red Sea full of enthusiasm and a new-found love of the underwater world. You enjoy showing off your shiny new diving certificate to everyone, most of who seem suitably baffled, and you dream of doing more diving. Soon. Very soon!
Sure, we all want to just turn around at the airport and return to the water, but then reality dawns: we need to earn more money before we can afford another dive holiday. And that could take MONTHS!!! So where do you go from here? What do you do with your enthusiasm before it fades away to a wonderful, yet distant, memory?
You could join a local dive club! And this is why:
1. Make New Friends
Scuba diving is all about friendship. A dive club gives you the chance to make new friends with other divers who share the diving bug.
2. On-going Training
Joining a club can provide you with the opportunity to continue your training. All clubs have qualified Instructors to help you develop your skills and become a more competent diver.
3. Club Benefits
Scuba diving can be hard on your wallet, and this is where joining a club can really work for you: clubs often enjoy savings on equipment, training and dive holidays. You can also enjoy exclusive deals for BSAC and PADI members with some dedicated scuba travel operators, like Regaldive. So you can get back into the water even sooner…
4. Opportunities for Regular Diving
Joining a club can give you access to year-round diving opportunities in the UK and abroad, and broaden your appreciation and understanding of the marine environment. As well as having a great laugh with your new friends at social events!
5. The World is Your Lobster
Joining a club can expand your knowledge and understanding of the popular destinations that you can fly off to once the money has returned to your bank account. And there is no limit to choice, so what would you like to do next: wreck diving in Malta? A liveaboard in the Red Sea? Diving with manta rays and whalesharks in the Maldives? A dusk dive with the beautiful mandarin fish in the Philippines or Indonesia? There are no boundaries to the dreams of divers!
6. Part of the Community
There’s nothing like belonging to a club to make you feel part of the wider dive community, giving you the confidence to join in the banter with other divers on your next diving holiday. Share your photos, diving experiences and travel plans to pick up some great destination tips (and a dive buddy or two) for your next diving adventure.
