Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is nestled on the natural island of Thilamaafushi, in southern Lhaviyani Atoll.

This luxury resort offers a secluded “castaway” experience enriched by indigenous flora and marine life, including turtles and rays. The resort emphasises sustainability and conservation, featuring a marine hub with an in-house marine biologist, house reef, and initiatives such as coral restoration.

The resort blends contemporary style with the natural beauty of the Maldives. Accommodation ranges from beach villas to overwater pool villas, many featuring private pools, sundecks, and sweeping ocean views designed for relaxation and privacy. Dining is a highlight, with six restaurants and bars offering diverse culinary experiences, from Asian and European cuisine to Japanese and Spanish-inspired dishes, alongside beachfront grills and health-conscious options.

Guests can also enjoy the Explore Spa, a fitness centre, and a range of cultural and recreational programmes. Families are catered for with a dedicated Kids Hub on-site, with activities focused on discovery and creativity.

Accommodation

Le Méridien Maldives features an expansive collection of accommodation options, ensuring each guests’ stay is exactly as they desire. Beach villas are popular among divers, with a relatively short walk to the on-site Sub Oceanic Maldives Dive Centre, as are the lagoon villas. The beach villas have direct terrace access to the beach, combining indoor and outdoor living spaces with private bathrooms. Designed with muted tones and modern styling, they deliver comfort and privacy.

The lagoon villas' site sits on the waters’ edge, with private terrace over the water and step access to the serene ocean below. There are also villas with private pools, two-bedroom villas, and full over-water villas to choose from.

All villas feature air-conditioning, free WiFi, wardrobe, en suite bathrooms, slippers and robes, safe, mini bar and hot drink station. An additional bed can be added to selected villas.

Adaptive and disabled guests can be also be accommodated; we recommend speaking with the team first to ensure the stay would be comfortable. Contact our specialist dive team to discuss the perfect villa choice for your Maldives holiday.

Facilities

Meal plans at Le Méridien have been carefully curated to provide each guest exactly what they need. In addition to bed and breakfast, half-board, full-board, all-inclusive and all-inclusive premium, the resort offers guests the ability to add beverage packages to non all-inclusive meal plan options. This cost-effective option is ideal for divers who feel they may not maximise the benefits of all-inclusive meal plans, but who still want to enjoy a drink at the end of the diving day.

The multiple restaurant and bar options deliver variety throughout any holiday at Le Méridien Maldives. The Turquoise Restaurant is the go-to place for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving global favourites buffet-style to suit all tastes. For pool side delights, head to Vella Bar & Grill, with wood-fired pizzas and light bites during the day, and turning to premium steak house dining after dark. Between meals, the Waves Café and Latitude offer uncomplicated relaxation. In the evening, Tabemasu is open for its unique Japanese dining experience, and the Riviera indulges in endless ocean views with the vibrant spirit of Southern Spain. La Vie is a refined bar with private pool, the perfect place to spend the golden hour.

The Marine Conservation Hub is where Le Méridien Maldives’ marine biologist is based. Guests can learn about the island’s natural ecosystem, the surrounding mangroves, and the diverse marine life. The Marine Master Programme on offer gives guests a deeper understanding, while snorkelling with the marine biologist provides an opportunity to experience the environment firsthand. Sustainability continues throughout the resort with the Green Global Certificate and green initiative, which maintains the balance between their environmental responsibility and guest satisfaction.

Holistic spa and wellness are present throughout the resort with the Explore Spa, fitness centre and guided sunrise and sunset yoga sessions, and the Waves Lifestyle Hub offering sailing wellness and fitness classes. There's also a padel court, evening entertainment, art space, water sports centre, and on-site dive centre for guests.

Families are well taken care of, with a dedicated kids pool and Kids Hub where guests can find daily family-friendly activities scheduled throughout the day. Children over 4-years can join activities without their guardian, and a baby-sitting service is available too at an additional cost.

Location

The resort is based on the southern edge of Lhaviyani Atoll, and can be accessed from Malé International Airport by sea plane.

Each morning a two-tank boat dive heads out to explore the best dive sites in south Lhaviyani Atoll. Away from the liveaboard routes, these dive sites promise tranquillity like nowhere else in the Maldives. The two dive boats have freshwater showers, toilet, onboard refreshments, and towels. Over 30 dives sites can be reached from the resort, featuring thilas, channels, corners, gentle reefs and more. Turtles, rays, reef sharks, nurse sharks, dolphins, fusiliers, and schooling fish can be seen year-round with high probability. Feeding manta rays can be spotted too, when the odds are in your favour.

Three times daily the shuttle boat takes divers to one of five moored drop points on the house reef, each with its own unique underwater reefscape. In the shallow is stretching sea grass with abundant turtles and stingrays, deeper is a muck-style site with sea horses and unusual critters, and further out the island has its own thila with colourful hard corals and dazzling fish life. If you’re lucky, manta rays and eagle rays have been spotted here too. The in-house marine biologist also hosts specialist turtle and stingray snorkelling sessions on the house reef. Snorkelling further afield is also available upon request.

Ratios are kept intimate, with a maximum of four divers per guide for fun diving, and two to one for courses. Visibility in Lhaviyani Atoll is usually best from May to December, however, moon phases and prevailing current direction should be considered.

Planning your Holiday

Visas

Entry requirements vary from country to country, and it’s important to check the latest visa information well before you travel. Some destinations may allow visa-free entry for a limited period, while others require an eVisa or a visa obtained in advance. To ensure you have the correct documentation for your trip, we recommend checking the official advice from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or contacting the relevant country’s embassy or consulate. Other nationalities should check with their own consulate/embassy.

Passports

Before you travel, make sure your passport is valid for the full duration of your trip and meets the entry requirements of your destination. Many countries require at least six months’ validity beyond your planned return date, while others may have different rules. For the most reliable and up-to-date information, visit the UK Government’s passport guidance or the official travel advice pages for your destination. Other nationalities should check with their own consulate/embassy.

If you’re planning to travel to or via an EU country (with certain exceptions) your UK passport must meet two key requirements, it must be less than 10 years old on the day you enter the country and it must be valid for at least three months after your planned departure date.

Vaccinations & Health Advice

Health and vaccination requirements differ depending on where you're travelling. Some destinations may require proof of specific vaccinations or recommend certain precautions to protect your wellbeing.

We’re not qualified to provide you with specific advice on vaccinations and strongly recommend that you contact your healthcare professional before you travel to discuss the inoculations you may need to consider.

For trusted guidance on health and vaccination advice, refer to the NHS Travel Vaccination AdviceMasta Travel Health or Travel Health Pro websites.
