Part of the Lotus Journey family, the Malaillo Liveaboard provides a luxury diving experience to the remote corners of Indonesia’s wild waters.

Accommodating just 14 guests, this traditionally crafted phinisi vessel was purpose built for divers with a unique rear diving platform for seamless transition to the underwater world. The Malaillo is currently one of few, if not the only vessel exploring Northern Halmahera and Morotai Island (North Malukus), giving divers the opportunity to discover brand-new dive sites and observe truly untouched reefs on selected cruises. The liveaboard also covers Raja Ampat, Komodo, Banda Sea, Alor and more!

Depending on the destination, guests can enjoy up to four dives per day, balanced with meals, relaxation, and occasional shore excursions or trekking opportunities. Malaillo maintains a maximum ratio of four divers per guide. Each diver is assigned a personal station on the dive deck, while the vessel’s two aluminium tenders ensure quick access to dive sites.

Facilities

Accommodation is spread across three decks, and all cabins are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, en suite bathrooms, desks, and wardrobes. The lower deck features four cabins, including two doubles and two twins, all with porthole windows. The main deck is home to a twin cabin with direct access to the restaurant. On the upper deck, there are two cabins — the Master Suite with a queen bed and a twin cabin, both offering larger private bathrooms and multiple windows.

Malaillo’s layout is designed to maximise space and comfort. The spacious sun deck is furnished with beanbags and sun loungers, providing the perfect place to relax between dives. The upper deck features a large air-conditioned lounge and a hammock deck with a floating net suspended above the sea. The main deck includes indoor and covered outdoor dining areas and a comfortable bow seating area. Fresh towels, drinking water, tea, coffee, fruit, and homemade snacks are available throughout the day, helping guests stay refreshed and comfortable throughout the journey.

The dedicated rear dive deck is where the magic happens. Each diver is assigned a personal station on the dive deck, while the vessel’s two aluminium tenders ensure quick access to dive sites. For underwater photographers and videographers, a fully equipped camera room with workstations, international power outlets, extension leads, fans, and lighting. Facilities include complementary Nitrox for certified divers, Bauer compressors, rental equipment, individual storage areas, and dedicated washing and drying stations.
