Perched on the shore of Pietermaai, Curaçao, this soulful boutique hotel offers instant access to a bustling house reef. Step straight into the blue to glide alongside sea turtles and colourful reef fish.
Pietermaai is one of Willemstad's most distinctive neighbourhoods, and Scuba Lodge sits at its heart. The iconic floating Queen Emma Bridge and the UNESCO-listed Handelskade waterfront are a leisurely 10-minute stroll away from the hotel, while the surrounding streets buzz with Dutch colonial architecture, bustling market squares, and the Curaçao Museum just around the corner. For those drawn to the beach, Knip Beach and Cas Abou — two of the island's most sought-after stretches of white sand — are a short drive west. This is the sort of place you'll find hard to leave.
Accommodation
Scuba Lodge's 28 rooms and 11 suites are housed in beautifully restored 19th-century townhouses, each one filled with the charm of Pietermaai's history. Stone walls, high ceilings, and wooden shutters give each space character, warmed by Caribbean colours and thoughtful details that make you feel genuinely welcome.
Standard rooms feature a king-size bed, modern bathroom with a rain shower, and all the essentials for a comfortable stay. In a Superior Room, you can also find a kitchenette tucked in—perfect for rustling up a light meal when the mood strikes. The Deluxe City View rooms offer the same convenience with a private terrace or balcony, where you can watch Pietermaai's vibrant street life unfold. For those seeking something more, the Deluxe Ocean View rooms deliver a private balcony overlooking the sea.
One and two-bedroom suites offer generous space with sweeping views across the Caribbean Sea. The two-bedroom suites are fantastic for families and groups seeking room to sprawl out and savour time together, whilst one-bedroom suites and the signature Zeelandia Suite provide intimate sanctuaries for couples and solo travellers wanting that extra breathing room. Each bedroom comes with air-conditioning and a private bathroom, ensuring you have everything you need for a proper retreat.
Facilities
An elevated pool sits above a small private bay, with sweeping views out across the ocean. A staircase from the terrace drops you directly down to the water's edge, where swimming, snorkelling, and diving are all on the cards. It's a city beach with loungers rather than a sweeping sandy shoreline, but that's very much in keeping with this stretch of Curaçao, where most beaches are man-made.
Local restaurants and charming meeting spots are abundant. De Heeren @ Sea is a local favourite, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whilst La Reina Coffee & Food is the kind of laid-back café that makes it very easy to lose track of time over a good breakfast or relaxed lunch. Pietermaai itself is packed with charming spots worth wandering to, and sunset drinks are never far away.
Location
Pietermaai, a historically rich district in Curaçao, brims with vibrant colours and an eclectic mix of old-world charm and modern flair. This seaside neighbourhood has transformed into a hub of culture and creativity, boasting beautifully restored colonial buildings, boutique hotels, and artisan shops. Whether you're strolling through its lively streets or relaxing by the ocean breeze, Pietermaai enchants visitors with picturesque courtyards, hidden cocktail bars, and intimate dining spots.
A perfect destination for both relaxation and exploration, it offers an inviting blend of heritage and contemporary charm that makes every moment unforgettable.

Dive Centre Pietermaai offer effortless shore diving access to the house reef, alongside guided shore and boat trips to the island's most remarkable sites. Whether you're taking your first breaths underwater on a PADI Open Water course, working towards a speciality certification, or simply keen to explore at your own pace. Nitrox is available to pre-book, and all your scuba and snorkelling gear is ready for hire.
A typical day might begin with an early morning two-tank guided shore or boat dive departing around 08.30, returning after lunchtime, or a single-tank afternoon dive starting at 14.00. Whether you're exploring the house reef or venturing further afield by boat, Curaçao's calm, clear waters and year-round visibility make it a particularly welcoming environment for new divers. Special trips to West Point showcase Playa Kalki's tropical fish, sea fans, and vibrant coral gardens, whilst Playa Piscado is renowned for its sea turtle encounters. Further afield, Caracasbay offers Directors Bay and the celebrated Tugboat dive site — a wreck dive that keeps experienced divers returning season after season. The diversity of sites — from shallow coral gardens to dramatic drop-offs — ensures there's something for everyone.

Planning your Holiday
Visas
Entry requirements vary from country to country, and it’s important to check the latest visa information well before you travel. Some destinations may allow visa-free entry for a limited period, while others require an eVisa or a visa obtained in advance. To ensure you have the correct documentation for your trip, we recommend checking the official advice from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or contacting the relevant country’s embassy or consulate. Other nationalities should check with their own consulate/embassy.
Passports
Before you travel, make sure your passport is valid for the full duration of your trip and meets the entry requirements of your destination. Many countries require at least six months’ validity beyond your planned return date, while others may have different rules. For the most reliable and up-to-date information, visit the UK Government’s passport guidance or the official travel advice pages for your destination. Other nationalities should check with their own consulate/embassy.
If you’re planning to travel to or via an EU country (with certain exceptions) your UK passport must meet two key requirements, it must be less than 10 years old on the day you enter the country and it must be valid for at least three months after your planned departure date.
Vaccinations & Health Advice
Health and vaccination requirements differ depending on where you're travelling. Some destinations may require proof of specific vaccinations or recommend certain precautions to protect your wellbeing.
We’re not qualified to provide you with specific advice on vaccinations and strongly recommend that you contact your healthcare professional before you travel to discuss the inoculations you may need to consider.
For trusted guidance on health and vaccination advice, refer to the NHS Travel Vaccination Advice, Masta Travel Health or Travel Health Pro websites.
