Itinerary Details
Your base for this week of fun and adventure is Boutique Beach Resort. An eco-friendly resort of just 6 rooms on Dhigurah Island. Designed and managed for divers by British expat Romney Drury, the stylish property has diver's needs at the heart of its operations. Not only is the island ideally situated to enjoy the best dive sites of the South Ari Atoll, their eco-friendly approach and support for the local community has won many admirers and awards.
The itinerary includes a bespoke diving itinerary offering the opportunity of multiple encounters with prolific megafauna plus some action-packed diving at some of the Maldives’ most famous dive sites. Chloe Winn from the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (MWRSP) will be on the dive boat each day to help find and identify individual whale sharks. She will also provide insightful presentations about the local population throughout the week. Identify a new individual, and it will be named by the group!
Most days will include snorkelling excurions with any found whale sharks between dives. In addition your week includes a full day trip to nearby Manta Point, a cleaning station with high numbers of individuals especially in peak season when this trip operates. Divers can enjoy access to some special secret spots seldom visited by liveaboards just a few minutes from resort. Nitrox is complimentary.
In addition to the diving, get involved in local life and the real Maldives, with a vibrant local community on the island. As a local island, this is a week for detox and alcohol is not on sale at the resort. The week includes one speedboat trip to a nearby resort where alcohol is available.
