Please note: We recommend that you are a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent to get the most out of this trip but you do not need a minimum number of dives to join. You should be comfortable with drift dives and currents can be strong. All your diving is made from dhonis or zodiacs to give precise entry and exits points. Please note: the maximum depth for diving in the Maldives is 30m.
MV Keana departs from Hulhumale Lagoon, directly in front of Hulhule airport and operates a Sunday to Sunday schedule. Most dives are undertaken in Ari and Felidu atolls, supplemented by 2-3 dives in Male Atoll. This itinerary offers the chance to complete up to 17 dives (3 dives per day, one night dive, one dive on first day and last day – subject to arrival time) on some of the finest reefs of the Maldives.
Ari atoll has it all – beautiful reefs, lots of fish, sharks and whalesharks. In the last decade fishing has declined much in the central atolls and the quality of diving has benefitted. The east side of Felidu atoll is a popular destination, especially in the times of the east monsoon. Occasionally, MV Keana visits the incredible reefs of Baa atoll in combination with Lhaviyani atoll where there are excellent shark spots and two rewarding wrecks.
Guests opting to charter MV Keana on a full charter basis have an option to set the route in advance in cooperation with the boat management. In this case, fuel surcharges may be applicable.
