Underwater…Rugby!

23rd April 2015

There was a certain commotion at the London dive show earlier this year. Amidst the anticipated and popular stands was an extremely different and entirely unexpected form of underwater promotion. As the throngs of people devoured all the show had to offer, it was almost comical to observe an array of individuals stop, laugh and descend into shock at the bright blue stand in front of them.

Fall In Love With Somewhere New

Fall In Love With Somewhere New

14th February 2018

Despite us divers believing we are an adventurous bunch we still tend to fall back on tried and tested resorts. So the next time you plan to go away, why not consider a new twist on an old friend? Here are just a few suggestions:

Red Sea: Hamata

The White Shark Café

5th December 2018

Guadalupe is a remote volcanic island that lies 150 miles off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.  Home to the ocean’s most iconic and often misunderstood predator, this region of the Pacific Ocean is sometimes referred to as ‘White Shark Café’ and for good reason.

Diving Holidays with Kids

17th April 2019

Plenty of hotels offer kids' clubs and activities to keep little ones entertained, or for young divers a summer holiday is the perfect time to take those first few breaths underwater! Take a look at our Junior Diving Courses for more information…

The wonderful octopus

1st April 2020

There are a few hot spots where sightings of octopus could almost be considered common place and these tend to be the muck diving capitals of the diving world. A number of locations within the coral triangle are famed for providing the perfect habitat for our eight armed friends- that’s right; arms not legs or tentacles.

Enchanting corals

7th April 2020

Soft coral reef in Komodo, Indonesia

Noble Nudibranch

28th April 2020

Nudibranch means ‘naked gills’ and these slippery little jewels live their fairly short lives with their gills on the outside of their body. Yet they aren’t afraid of the presence of a human and pose perfectly for the underwater photographer. It is a thrill to frame them as the main subject of a “still” life and catch their bright, delicate gill appendages swaying in the current.

Whale shark in the Galapagos

Why I Love Whale Sharks

5th May 2020

At first, there were many near misses. We’ve all been there. You return to the boat from a dive to excited chatter from your fellow divers about their thrilling marine life encounter; and endeavour to share in their delight as they recount their tale while querying how on earth you managed to miss it.

What We Love About Sharm El Sheikh

"Having been dropped off in Jackson Reef, my best mate and I allowed the gentle drift of the current to push us back towards where our small dive boat was moored.

Viva La Vilamendhoo

18th December 2020

We still remember the month of March when we went from the peak of the high season to stopping the entire diving operation within two weeks! It’s amazing how fast the world shut down due to the pandemic. Our team were so busy underwater, and the Maldives was one of the last destinations to close their borders to tourists, that we hardly realised what was happening.

Unexpected delights in the Red Sea

3rd May 2019

I was picked up in the morning from my hotel, the impeccable Sunrise Marina Resort in Port Ghalib, and a few minutes later was welcomed at the Emperor Divers dive centre on the far side of the marina. As this was a work trip rather than a diving trip, I hadn’t brought my dive gear.

Trumpet fish in Riviera Maya, Mexico

What to Expect on a Diving Holiday to Riviera Maya

6th July 2023

From the mainland, divers can explore the ocean reefs along the Riviera Maya coastline. The reefs have a colourful mix of classic Caribbean corals and are populated by large shoals of grey snapper and porkfish, which form highways along the overhangs. I also saw spider crabs, nurse sharks, flounders, flamingo tongue snail, and plenty more marine life.

Coral reef and fish in the Southern Red Sea, Egypt

A Southern Red Sea Liveaboard Adventure

13th July 2023

There are so many options for diving worldwide, but even narrowing your choice to Egypt leaves you with the unenviable task of deciding north … or south? The northern itineraries are a piece of cake to get to (a quick hop from Hurghada Airport) and are also a great choice for your first liveaboard or wreck dives.

Pitons in St Lucia, the Caribbean

An Inspiring Diving Holiday in St Lucia

27th October 2023

In September, I flew into Hewanaorra airport in the far south of St Lucia in what should have been the middle of the wet, windy, even stormy “hurricane season”. Dive and Dine

1st August 2014

There’s no doubt that diving makes you hungry and the vast swathes of food polished off at lunchtime on any dive boat are proof of that. And with the average 45 minute dive session burning over 500 calories, there’s no such thing as over-indulgence on a dive holiday.

Hawksbill turtle in the Red Sea

Fantastic Turtles

20th May 2020

The turtle has to be my favourite marine animal, and I get excited each time I see a one. Whether it’s a big chunky green or a snappy little hawksbill, I will endeavour to point it out to my buddy using the well-known hand signal we all know and love. My initial bond was formed when I spent some time volunteering at a Turtle Rescue and Education centre on Zanzibar Island ten or so years ago.
